Information about failed requests to open for instruction on Saturday/Sunday

Tony Meyer made this Official Information request to Ministry of Education

The request was successful.

From: Tony Meyer

Dear Ministry of Education,

Since 2000, there have been nine requests from schools to open for instruction on Saturday or Sunday, as provided for under Section 65C(2) of the Education Act 1989.

Seven of these requests were not successful; i.e. the Minister at the time did not give approval for the school to open on Saturday/Sunday as requested.

(See https://fyi.org.nz/request/3018-when-hav...)

Please provide, for each of the seven unsuccessful cases:

1. A copy of the request from the school to the Minister
2. Any and all internal documentation that dealt with the request (e.g. recommendations from the Ministry to the Minister)
3. A copy of the response from the Minister to the school

Please note that you are required, by law, to provide the information as soon as reasonably practicable; 20 working days is a maximum only.

Yours faithfully,
Tony Meyer
