Rental housing warrant of fitness - article in NZDoctor
A O'Sullivan made this Official Information request to University of Otago
The request was successful.
From: A O'Sullivan
Dear University of Otago. With reference to the article at the link below, on the basis that the University is apparently in discussions with councils, please advise which councils are considering introducing bylaws as mentioned. I do note however that the article states that some councils *will* soon introduce a rental housing warrant of fitness. If reported correctly, does this mean that decisions have been made? If so, by which councils.
"A Wellington housing expert who welcomes the National Respiratory Strategy helped develop a rental housing warrant of fitness which some councils will introduce soon."

Dear Mr/Ms O'Sullivan,
In response to your query I advise that the three cities referred to in the New Zealand Doctor article were Dunedin, Wellington and Porirua. I understand that Porirua City Council very recently decided not to proceed.
Sincerely,
Jan Flood
Registrar
Further to your OIA-related enquiry regarding which three cities I was referring to when quoted in the New Zealand Doctor, the cities are/were Dunedin, Wellington, and Porirua. I say "were" because Porirua City Council yesterday decided not to proceed after all.
