Request under Official Information Act 1982

To Housing New Zealand Corporation,

This is a request made under the Official Information Act. I wish to receive answers and documentation to the following questions relating to the total number of instances of house fires dating back to 2000, broken down by year.

1. What is the number of houses that had a fire?
2. How many were tenanted at the time?
3. How old are the houses?
4. What is the street address (at least the suburb)?
5. What was the cause, e.g faulty wiring? Gas heater?
6. Were there smoke alarms? If so, were they working?
7. Was there a loss of life?
8. What was the cost of repair?

Under S(15) of the Official Information Act you are obliged to provide a reply to this request no later than 20 working days you receive this. My estimate return date for this information, given intervening statutory holidays is therefore September 1.

If you intend to levy a charge for collation of any information relating to this request, please advise me in advance of undertaking the expenditure.

I would prefer receipt of any material in soft copy form via email. Please provide all figures requested in a soft copy excel spreadsheet format.
