Official information request for information relating to the remuneration of the Chief Executive of the Environmental Protection Authority

Our ref: 2017/0024

I refer to your official information request received on 11 March 2017 where you state “I understand that the Chief Executive of the Environmental Protection Authority received a considerable increase in salary between 2015 and 2016 ($350,000-$359,000 increasing to $390,000-$399,000)”, and request any advice or information that the State Services Commission provided on this matter”.

The Official Information Act 1982 requires that we advise you of our decision on your request no later than 20 working days after the day that we received your request. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to meet that time limit and we are, therefore, writing to notify you of an extension of the time to make our decision, to 24 April 2017.

This extension is necessary because consultations needed to make a decision on your request are such that a proper response cannot reasonably be made within the original time limit.

You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision. Information about how to make a complaint is available at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.
