Policies relating to the handling of OIA requests
Ben made this Official Information request to Ministry of Social Development
The request was successful.
From: Ben
Dear Ministry of Social Development,
I am conducting research into the Official Information Act (OIA) policies & practices adopted by government agencies, with a view to identifying best practice approaches.
I therefore request the following information under the OIA:
* Copies of the current policy, procedure, manual or other process document that records the Ministry's process or processes for handling and deciding requests under the OIA; and
* Any diagram or flowchart of the Ministry's process or processes (if any have been created);
* Copies of any template response letters that form part of the Ministry's process or processes (if any have been created).
If you need any more information from me please let me know as soon as possible. For the avoidance of doubt, this request does NOT seek drafts or previous policies.
I understand that a decision on a request for information under the OIA must be made as soon as reasonably practicable, and in any case not later than 20 working days after receipt of the request. I trust that a narrow request such as this can be dealt with relatively quickly.
Yours faithfully,
Ben

Dear Ben
On 26 June 2017 you emailed the Ministry requesting, under the Official
Information Act 1982, the following information:
· Copies of the current policy, procedure, manual or other process
document that records the Ministry's process or processes for handling and
deciding requests under the OIA;
· Any diagram or flowchart of the Ministry's process or processes
(if any have been created);
· Copies of any template response letters that form part of the
Ministry's process or processes (if any have been created).
The Ministry has decided to grant your request in part, namely information
which relates to template response letters and process manuals. However,
it will take some time to prepare this information for release. The
information will be sent to you as soon as possible. The Ministry has also
decided to refuse a small part of this information under section 9(2)(a)
of the Official Information Act. The release of this information is likely
to prejudice the ability of government to consider advice and the wider
public interest of effective government would not be served.
If you wish to discuss this decision with us, please feel free to contact
