Dear Mr Johnston,
Thank you for your Official Information Act request of 17 July 2017 asking whether the electoral commission developed any policies in order to prevent or manage the influence of foreign intelligence on New Zealand's elections in the last two years.
The Electoral Commission has not itself prepared any policies on protection from the influence of foreign intelligence. In our view, your request is more closely connected with the functions of the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC) and consequently on Friday 28 July 2017 your request was transferred to DPMC under section 14 of the Official Information Act 1982.
DPMC will respond to you directly.
Kind regards
Kristina Temel
