Good morning Dr Loomis,
I refer to your below email dated 28 August 2017 that was addressed to the
Hon Judith Collins.
As you are aware, the following question was transferred to the New
Zealand Customs Service (Customs) for a response:
“What was the value of the Motor Spirits Excise Duty refund in the 2016/17
tax year?”
Customs is able to provide data for the following:
· the value of excise duty refunds for liquid fuels (diplomatic
refunds)
· the value of the National Land Transport Fund refunds (which
does not include LPG).
Customs has checked with the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) and it
holds refund data for the following when excise duty is charged:
· on fuel in an exempted vehicle;
· on fuel in a road user charges-licensed vehicle;
· on fuel in a commercial vessel;
· for search and rescue purposes in a dedicated rescue vessel;
· for commercial purposes other than as fuel in any motor vehicle,
vessel, or aircraft.
Can you please confirm from the above what data you are seeking?
Should you be seeking data held by NZTA, Customs will transfer
expeditiously that part of your request to NZTA for a response.
Please email Customs at [1][email address]
