Review of double bunking assessment protocols
BAW Russell made this Official Information request to Department of Corrections
The request was successful.
From: BAW Russell
Dear Department of Corrections,
In a media report from September 2017 a Corrections spokesman stated the double bunking protocols would be reviewed following a series of rapes (http://www.radionz.co.nz/news/national/3...). I am requesting a copy of this review. If the review is not yet finalised I seek the most recent draft and the most recent timetable for completion of the review.
Given that the Corrections Amendment Bill is currently before the Justice Select Committee and includes changes to the management of cell sharing, I ask that a response be provided urgently.
Yours faithfully,
BAW Russell

Dear Info@Corrections,
This seems like a very long period for a relatively simple request. Can you please advise me who you intend to consult, for what purpose, the time you intend to give them to respond and any other information you think would be useful in assessing if 40 days for this request is 'as soon as reasonably practicable'. If I have not received an adequate response by 6 June I will raise this with the Ombudsman as a potential breach of s15(1) of the Official Information Act.
Yours sincerely,
BAW Russell
