Voice Recognition Biometric System
Aaron Chang made this Official Information request to Ministry of Social Development
The request was partially successful.
From: Aaron Chang
Dear Ministry of Social Development,
I would like to make a request for the following information:
1) The reasoning behind using a biometric voice recognition system to confirm clients identity, the last time this was asessed as a reliable tool and alternatives that were considered.
2) Staff training procedures or guidlines relating to how to deal with clients whose voices don't comply to the biometric voice recognition system.
3) Any investigation or enquiries by the Ministry of Social Development into how this biometric voice recognition system will cope with people whos voices do not register as appropriately 'feminine' or 'masculine' enough for their recorded gender. Partculary how having ones gender and/or identity questioned could be emotionally distressing.
Yours faithfully,
Aaron Chang
