Attendance at question time.
Adam Ujdur made this Official Information request to Parliamentary Service
The request was partially successful.
From: Adam Ujdur
Dear Parliamentary Service,
I have seen commentary in the media about MPs attendance rate at question time.
I would like to please have a list of each MP for the last decade and the number of question times each MP was eligible to attend, as well as the amount they physically did attend.
Thank you
Yours faithfully,
Adam Ujdur

Kia ora Adam,
Thanks for contacting the Parliamentary Information Service. Unfortunately the information you requested isn’t available for question time.
The only public record of MP attendance is in the Journals of the House of Representatives, where MPs who are absent from the House without permission have their names published (you can access the journals on the Parliament website here: https://www.parliament.nz/en/pb/journals... )
However, this is for the whole sitting day rather than just question time.
David McGee’s Parliamentary Practice in New Zealand has further information covering attendance and absence of members.
You can access the relevant chapter here: https://www.parliament.nz/en/visit-and-l... .
According to this, “Members are recorded as present if they attend the House, select committee meetings or other official business approved by the Business Committee, or if they participate in the official inter-parliamentary relations programme.”
The Parliamentary Information Service responds to information requests from the public about all aspects of New Zealand's Parliament.
If you have another question about the New Zealand Parliament please contact us again.
Ngâ mihi,
