Kiwibuild: Group Home Builders Initiative: Officials’ Memories & Recordings
Matthew Hooton made this Official Information request to Phil Twyford
The request was successful.
From: Matthew Hooton
Dear Minister
My OIA request relates to the interactive market briefing on the Group Home Builders Initiative held in Wellington on the afternoon of Tuesday 30 October 2018 and referred to here: https://www.gets.govt.nz/HUD/ExternalTen...
In an earlier OIA, I asked for all notes taken by officials during the market briefing. I was advised that despite 20 officials attending, not a single one took any notes whatsoever. I do not believe this and have asked the Ombudsman to investigate.
However, in the meantime, I seek, under the OIA, all information held by government on what was said and transpired at the meeting. This includes any recording that were made, and also information held in the minds of officials. You will be aware that the Ombudsman has previously ruled that “information” includes information held in the minds of officials.
If no information is held by government on what was said or transpired at the meeting other than that already released to me, please advise under the OIA whether or not some sort of internal inquiry has been launched to explore how it could be that officials could hold a briefing with the private sector on a key government policy and yet hold no information on what the private sector or other officials said at the briefing other than a pre-prepared PowerPoint presentation.
Thank you.
Yours sincerely
Matthew Hooton
