Department responsible for rationing
Andrew Watkins made this Official Information request to Department of Internal Affairs
The request was successful.
From: Andrew Watkins
Dear Department of Internal Affairs,
1. Please tell me which government department or organisation would be responsible for managing energy, food and other critical resources in the event of scarcity or civil emergency?
2. How would your department ensure the fair distribution of resources in the event of scarcity, whether caused by civil emergency, excessive demand, or limited supply.
For example if petrol supplies to New Zealand were limited by similar events to the Oil shocks in the 1970's what policy and plans would be put into effect?
3. What other resources do you have scarcity plans for?
Yours faithfully,
Andrew Watkins
