Thank you for your email of 19 August 2013 requesting, under the Official
Information Act 1982, the following information:

 

“How many staff are involved in the answering of requests for files from
the MSD. Are they MSD staff? Do all the requests go to the Social Worker
involved for them to remove names of notifiers?

 

What mediums are available for the requestor, the application says, paper,
CD, DVD, however we only get responses on paper.”

 

The Privacy and Official Information (POI) team are responsible for
answering requests lodged under the Privacy Act 1993. The Official and
Parliamentary Information (OPI) team are responsible for answering
requests lodged under the Official Information Act 1982.

 

Currently, there is a total of 30 staff in both teams. All staff are
employed by the Ministry of Social Development.  

Staff members in POI and OPI are responsible for removing the names of
notifiers, if required – not Social Workers.

 

A requestor may request that information be released on either paper, CD
or DVD – where an option has not been specified, a requestor will receive
information on paper.
