Dear Hamilton City Council,
I am writing to request the following information:
1. A list of all CCTV cameras owned OR operated by the Hamilton City Council, or any Council Controlled Organisations (CCO's).
2. A list of all CCTV cameras operated by CitySafe.
3. A list of all cameras used for Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) within Hamilton.
4. A list of all cameras used by traffic enforcement e.g. red light, or speed cameras within Hamilton.
For each of the above points, please provide an Excel spreadsheet containing at minimum, the camera name/id, camera location (street address or intersection).

I write to acknowledge your information request of 15 October 2019 in respect of CCTV cameras.
Please be advised that your request has been passed on to the relevant team within Council and you will be informed of the outcome.
The Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 requires that we advise you of our decision on whether the Council will provide the requested information or not "as soon as reasonably practicable", no later than 20 working days after the day we received your request. We will respond to you no later than 13 November 2019.

Further to your information request of 15 October 2019, in respect of CCTV
cameras, I am now able to provide Hamilton City Council’s response.
You requested:
1. A list of all CCTV cameras owned OR operated by the Hamilton City
Council, or any Council Controlled Organisations (CCO's).
2. A list of all CCTV cameras operated by CitySafe.
3. A list of all cameras used for Automatic Number Plate Recognition
(ANPR) within Hamilton.
4. A list of all cameras used by traffic enforcement e.g. red light, or
speed cameras within Hamilton.

Our response:
1. A list of all CCTV cameras owned OR operated by the Hamilton City
Council, or any Council Controlled Organisations (CCO's).
Hamilton City Council operates 264 cameras within Hamilton. There are no
cameras operated by outside organisations.
Please find attached a list of security cameras operated by Hamilton City
Council. The location of Crime prevention and Transportation Cameras has
been withheld under section 6(a) of the Local Government Official
Information and Meetings Act 1987 where good reason for withholding
information exists if the making available of the information would be
likely to prejudice the maintenance of the law, including the prevention,
investigation and detection of offences.
2. A list of all CCTV cameras operated by CitySafe.
CitySafe is the Hamilton City council’s operation unit that operates the
CCTV network. The answer to this question is provided in question 1.
3. A list of all cameras used for Automatic Number Plate Recognition
(ANPR) within Hamilton.
Hamilton City Council operates one Automatic Number Plate Recognition
(ANPR) camera. This is used for on-street parking analysis. It is not
used for enforcement.
4. A list of all cameras used by traffic enforcement e.g. red light, or
speed cameras within Hamilton.
Hamilton City Council do not operate any cameras used for traffic
enforcement , for example, red light and speed cameras within Hamilton.
If you have any concerns with the decision referred to in this response,
you have the right to request an investigation and review by the Ombudsman
under section 27(3) of the Local Government Official Information and
Meetings Act 1987.

I made a complaint to the Ombudsman after HCC refused to release some of the information requested.
HCC reconsidered their response and released all the information, however, they attached it to the incorrect FYI request - https://fyi.org.nz/request/11771-northma...
