Social workers and personality clashes.

Response to this request is long overdue. By law Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.

Dear Child Youth and Family,
Individual family members are often subjected to personality assessments to insure a safe level of parenting standard.
Question:
In the line of good social work standards being of importance and that they are often in daily contact with vulnerable children and often distressed families or families under stress. Other than their training, are personality and other psychologist reports done to insure social workers are of a high standard and have a stable personality while working for Child Youth and Family?
Are checks from time to time done to insure the mental stability of social workers?
Other than social workers monitoring their own stress levels (stress leave). How is it monitored that social workers are following good social work practice when they are dealing one to one with clients?
How can clients and the ministry be assured that any personality differences or mental instability of the social worker is not being reflected in client notes or case decision making or during conversations with others and what checks are undertaken to insure this is not happening during the progression of a case? (two parts to this question).
Yours faithfully,
Leah Trass
