Implementation of Bazley Inquiry recommendations

Alex Harris made this Official Information request to New Zealand Police

The request was successful.

From: Alex Harris

Dear New Zealand Police,

In 2007 the Commission of Inquiry into Police Conduct recommended that police establish an "early warning system" tracking allegations of misconduct and integrate it with their performance management system (recommendations R47 - 49 of the Bazley report). In 2012, the Deputy Auditor-General noted that this had not yet been done, and recommended that "New Zealand Police fully implement their national early intervention system by 31 December 2012 and actively manage the risks associated with how that system is perceived and used." (Recommendation 5 of the 3rd annual monitoring report, http://www.oag.govt.nz/2012/police-condu...)

I would like to request the following information under the OIA:

* whether the police have complied with the Deputy Auditor-General's recommendation, and if so on what date.

I would prefer to receive an electronic response. Queries about this request will be automatically forwarded to me by the fyi.org.nz website.

With regards to s12 of the OIA, I am an NZ citizen and in NZ.

Yours faithfully,

Alex Harris
