Dear Mr Tuck,
I refer to your request of 6 September 2020. The University’s response
follows.
“Please supply the following information under the Official Information
Act.
1) The average grade(s) of students by course and campus of study during
2018.
2) The average grade(s) of students by course and campus of study during
2019.
3) The average grade(s) of students by course and campus of study during
2020 (to date).”
Although we have records of each student’s grade for every course they sit
at the University, we do not record the statistical information requested
above (the average grade achieved by students in each course, by campus).
Further, none of the University’s existing reports can produce this
information. Accordingly, we must refuse this part of your request under
section 18(g) of the Official Information Act, as the University does not
hold the information requested.
“4) A document stating the impact to the average grade(s) of students by
course of study and campus of New Zealand's COVID-19 response.”
As stated above, the University does not have a report which produces the
average grade achieved by students in each course, by campus, and so the
University does not have the requested document analysing this data. This
constitutes a refusal of your request under section 18(e) of the Official
Information Act.
You have the right to make a complaint to an Ombudsman if you are
dissatisfied with this response.
Yours sincerely,
Rebecca Ewert
University of Auckland
