Under the Official Information Act, we are requesting the following information relating to meetings held between the University of Auckland Proctor and students at the University of Auckland between January 1st, 2020 to October 20th, 2020:
(1) - A confirmation of the number of meetings held in 2020 between the University of Auckland proctor and University of Auckland student(s).
(2) - A breakdown of the number of types of cases from point (1) coded regarding their issues of concern. For example bullying and harassments, sexual harassments, discrimination, administrative meetings, etc.
(3) - Confirmation of the number of cases from point (1) where the respective student(s) had a support person present with them.
(4) - Confirmation of the number of cases from point (1) where the respective student(s) had a support person present who was a representative from Auckland University Students Association (AUSA).

Dear Christopher,
I refer to your request of 20 October 2020 for data concerning meetings held between the Proctor and University of Auckland students. The University's response follows.
The information provided below is for the 1 January 2020 - 12 November 2020 period.
"(1) - A confirmation of the number of meetings held in 2020 between the University of Auckland proctor and University of Auckland student(s)."
There were 43 meetings with students about 34 incidents/issues.
"(2) - A breakdown of the number of types of cases from point (1) coded regarding their issues of concern. For example bullying and harassments, sexual harassments, discrimination, administrative meetings, etc."
Types of cases and the number of these are as follows:
Abuse of staff - 2
Aggressive/Threatening Behaviour- 2
Bullying/Harassment (racial) - 2
Bullying/Harassment (other) - 3
Bullying/Harassment (work-related) - 1
Bullying/Harassment (sexual) - 7
Inappropriate behaviour - 5
Other misbehaviour - 1
Physical assault - 1
Serious Mental Health - 2
Sexual assault - 6
Stalking - 2
"(3) - Confirmation of the number of cases from point (1) where the respective student(s) had a support person present with them."
"(4) - Confirmation of the number of cases from point (1) where the respective student(s) had a support person present who was a representative from Auckland University Students Association (AUSA)."
There was a support person present during 9 of the 43 meetings. In 5 of those 9 meetings where a support person was present, the support person was from AUSA Advocacy. Every request for a student to meet with the Proctor encourages them to bring a support person and notes that AUSA Advocacy can provide support.
