Dear Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment,

Please bare with me with this question, this is very personal and I’m asking this because I’m so desperate and writing this with tears. Let me explain a bit about my scenario,

I lost my grandfather who raised me from the childhood during covid and I wasn’t be able to meet him for the last time because of the border closure for visa holders, now my grandmother is also in same position, she is terminally ill now, I would like to visit her as per her last wish for a short time period, maybe a week and come back to New Zealand to continue my job.

I haven’t seen my fiancé, parents and siblings from past 2 years, it is so heartbreaking for myself and my family members.

I know it’s not possible for people who are currently in New Zealand to grant a border exemption, however is there any way that I could get a border exemption please. Following is my visa status

- I’m an Essential Skill Work visa holder valid for another 3 years.
- On going Employment in long term skill shortage Position.
- Applied for my SMC and waiting for my CO to be assigned(lodgement date May 2020).
Please let me know if there’s any possible way for
get a border exemption. Or INZ reviewing this process?
