Total of council land leased in the Matamata Ward
Tim made this Official Information request to Matamata-Piako District Council
This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Tim to read a recent response and update the status.
From: Tim
Dear Matamata-Piako District Council,
I would like to know the total value of monies received per annum from all council owned land within the Matamata ward that is leased out for the 2019-2020, and 2020-2021 years.
If possible, please provide a breakdown of commercial leases compared to community group leases.
If possible, please provide detail for commercial lease agreements showing that the leases are at a market rate (e.g market rent assessments or valuations).
If possible, please declare which leases also involve council staff interaction in a day to day basis, that is, council staff interact with customers in the business of that holds the lease, that is, which leases also result in the general public having an interaction with council paid staff, as a result of leasing out the space to a private business. As an example, do any leases result in council staff having to provide health and safety direction or advice to the public visiting the private businesses premise, and are these costs controlled or tracked within council?
Yours faithfully,
Tim
Matamata-Piako District Council

Matamata-Piako District Council
Dear Tim
The total value of monies received per annum from all council owned land
within the Matamata ward that is leased out is $71,889 for 2019-2020 and
$64,274 for 2020-2021 (up to 06 May 2021).
I have attached a spreadsheet that outlines all the community vs.
commercial leases that Council holds.
We are unable to release the specifics of the commercial leases under
section 7(2)(h) of LGOIMA to enable any local authority holding the
information to carry out, without prejudice or disadvantage, commercial
activities, however we can advise that for commercial leases we have an
external company that assess the properties to ensure they are at market
rate.
We do not have any leases that require a daily interaction with staff nor
the other interactions you identified in your request.
If you are dissatisfied with the information received, you have the right,
by way of making a complaint to an Ombudsman (under section 27(3) of the
Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (LGOIMA)), to
seek an investigation and review of Council’s decision, more information
on this process can be found at [1]www.ombudsman.parliament.nz.
Kind Regards
Ellie
