Minister of Transport & 30 May Incident on Auckland Harbour Bridge
Matthew Hooton made this Official Information request to Michael Wood
The request was partially successful.
From: Matthew Hooton
Dear Michael Wood
Under the OIA, I request all information held by you or your Beehive staff about the incident on Auckland Harbour Bridge on Sunday 30 May, prior to, during and after the incident. (This media report refers: https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/cycling-pr... )
In particular, I am interested in what advance warning you or any of your staff had of the incident, and what actions were taken to encourage, deter, facilitate or prevent the incident. However, please note that my request is broad, and includes all information as stated.
I have made seperate requests for information to NZTA and the Ministry of Transport and so this request does not cover information held by those agencies. Nor should this request be transferred to those agencies.
Yours sincerely
Matthew Hooton

Dear Matthew,
I am writing to acknowledge receipt of your Official Information Act request dated the 5th June 2021. You have requested the following information:
"Under the OIA, I request all information held by you or your Beehive staff about the incident on Auckland Harbour Bridge on Sunday 30 May, prior to, during and after the incident. (This media report refers: https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/cycling-pr... )

We received your request on 08/06/2021. We will endeavour to respond to your request as soon as possible and in any event no later than 06/07/2021, being 20 working days after the day your request was received. Kia ora Matthew
I refer to your below request pursuant to the Official Information Act 1982 to Hon Michael Wood, Minister of Transport, on 5 June 2021.
This email is to notify you that we are extending the 20 working days available to respond to your request, pursuant to section 15A of the Official Information Act. We require up to an additional 10 working days to respond to your request. Therefore you can expect to receive a response by 20 July 2021.
The reason for the extension is that consultations necessary to make a decision on the request are such that a proper response to the request cannot reasonably be made within the original 20 working-day limit.
You have the right under section 28(3) of the Official Information Act to make a complaint about the extension to the Ombudsman.
Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.
Ngā mihi

Dear M Wood (MIN),
Thank you for your message.
Under the Act, please advise who the consultations are with, what they are about, why they are necessary, and why they will take another two weeks on top of the four weeks you have already had to respond to my request.
Yours sincerely,
Matthew Hooton
