Digital Contact Tracing Usage Statistics
Andrew Chen made this Official Information request to Ministry of Health
The request was partially successful.
From: Andrew Chen
Dear Ministry of Health,
In Parliamentary Written Question 38175, the Minister for COVID-19 Response provided a table of Bluetooth key uploads and alerts generated between 17 August and 1 September 2021 (https://www.parliament.nz/resource/en-NZ...).
I would like to request an updated table that contains:
a) the number of Bluetooth key uploads and alerts
b) the number of QR code GLN uploads and alerts (both number of locations and number of devices)
c) the number of cases who were tested because they received an NZ COVID Tracer alert
for each day between 17 August 2021 and 1 October 2021.
Yours faithfully,
Andrew Chen

Dear Ministry of Health,
I noticed that part of my query was not answered, around the number of locations that alerts have been generated for. Hopefully this data is easily available from NCTS, and I would appreciate it if you could please share it if available.
Yours faithfully,

Response to your request for official information
Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the
Act) to the Ministry of Health (the Ministry) on 21 October 2021 for:
“I noticed that part of my query was not answered, around the number of
locations that alerts have been generated for. Hopefully this data is
easily available from NCTS, and I would appreciate it if you could please
share it if available”
The Ministry’s response to your previous request noted one document had
been found within scope of the point of your request in question. This was
supplied in the Ministry’s response to you. While the Act allows New
Zealanders to ask for information from Ministers and government agencies,
there is no requirement for agencies to create new information or compile
information they do not hold. Your request is therefore refused under
section 18(g) of the Act on the grounds that the information sought is not
held by the Ministry.
Under section 28(3) of the Act you have the right to ask the Ombudsman to
review any decisions made under this request. The Ombudsman may be
contacted by email at: [1][email address] or by calling 0800
802 602.
Please note that this response, with your personal details removed, may be
published on the Ministry website at:
