Kia ora,
Further to your request below, as it is currently worded it appears that determining whether there is relevant information that could be made available would require substantial collation and/or research, even with an extension of timeframe.
Before considering whether we may need to refuse your request under s18(f) of the OIA (information cannot be made available without substantial collation or research), in line with s18(B) of the OIA (consulting person if request likely to be refused under s18(f)) we invite you to consider whether your request could be specified with further particularity.
As a suggestion, you could refine your request to documents produced by the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service or Combined Threat Assessment Group, and restrict it to a particular time-frame.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards

Dear OIA Privacy,
Thank you for the timely reply to my request.
I am happy to significantly narrow the scope of the request to a specified time period and reduce the scope of the request in this instance. As I understand it, the NZSIS approved products list is classified so I cannot request a search narrowed to a particular intelligence product. In an effort to compromise, and further narrow the scope of this request, I am happy to narrow the scope of the request to any report produced/compiled by an Intelligence Analyst (or equivalent position/role).
Could I please then request the following information:
1) Any assessment with reference to "Black Lives Matter" or "black lives matter" complied or produced by an Intelligence Analyst (or equivalent position/role) over the period of 1st April 2020 to 1st August 2020.
I hope this circumvents the necessity to invoke s18(f) Official Information Act 1982.
Yours sincerely,
P Shaw

Kia ora,
Thank you for refining your request. The current phrasing is particular enough that there will be no need to refuse under s18(f).
Kind regards

I used the "Partially Successful" tag after being required to reduce the scope of the request to avoid the request being rejected under s18(f) Official Information Act 1982.
The reduced scope did return some information.
