Vaccination Status and Rates

 

1.       I write to acknowledge your request for information received 22
November 2021 regarding vaccination status and rates.

 

2.       This is being treated as an Official Information request, and as
such Council must meet certain criteria in how and when we respond to you,
set out in the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act
1987.

 

3.       Your request has been provided to the relevant officers for
follow up. You will be advised of Council’s decision as soon as is
reasonably possible, and no later than 20 working days from the date we
received your request, unless we have informed you that we need an
extension to that time frame with you before the due date.

Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act Request –
Vaccination Status and Rates – Response

 

1.       Further to your request for information received 22 November 2021
regarding vaccination status and rates, I am now able to provide you with
Hastings District Council’s response.

 

2.       You requested:

Can you please provide
(1) a full list of council funded public amenities that will require proof
of vaccination as a condition of entry
(2) the proportion of my council rates attributed to those amenities.

3.       Response:

Hastings District Council, like all public building owners, must comply
with new legislation set out by central government in respect of entry to
public buildings and community facilities. The rates the Council charges
are set to make public facilities available for use. Local Government
rates are a tax on property, not a user pays system. The use of these
buildings and facilities is a choice. Regardless of the reason for an
individual’s choice to not use the facility, the liability for the rates
will remain.

 

From Friday 3 December, as required by central government, the following
Hastings District Council facilities require all workers and visitors to
present a Vaccine Pass upon entry as a regular part of regular operations:

·       Toitoi

·       Hastings Sports Centre

·       FlaxRock Gym

 

Additionally, in accordance with the central government requirements,
Vaccine Passes will be required when events are being held at various
other Council facilities, such as pools, libraries, community centres and
the Art Gallery.
