Informed Consent #31 - Misinformation on active cases
Annie Weston made this Official Information request to Ministry of Health
Response to this request is long overdue. By law Ministry of Health should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.
From: Annie Weston
Dear Ministry of Health,
https://www.health.govt.nz/our-work/dise...
As at 13 December 2021 there are a total of 6811 active cases.
Under: Definitions - Active Case - confirmed
“Confirmed cases are people that have been tested, and the test confirms they have COVID-19 (ie, a positive test).”
I understand that a large percentage (ie: ~75%) of these cases are likely recovered.
https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/covid-19/4575...
Therefore the information presented from the single source of truth is misinformation. You’re deceiving the public by inflating pandemic numbers and creating unnecessary fear-mongering.
When will your systems for reporting be rectified and reflect the actual active case numbers please?
Yours faithfully,
Annie Weston
