Commercial Interference in Activists Employment
Suzette Dawson made this Official Information request to Prime Minister
Prime Minister did not have the information requested.
From: Suzette Dawson
Dear Prime Minister,
I have reason to believe there may have been political interference in my professional I.T. employment as a result of my extra-curricular volunteer work as an independent journalist.
I believe this may be as a result of actions undertaken by yourself or your staff.
I believe commercial decisions relating to me may have been impacted by political interference.
As per the Freedom of Information of Act I request any and all information held by your office or your staff, Cabinet Ministers or their staff, that would indicate the above has in fact occurred.
Yours faithfully,
Suzette Dawson

Dear Prime Minister,
To be clear, I am a natural New Zealand citizen and have never been paid anything by any person or organisation for my volunteer media work.

Dear Sarah Boyle,
Thank you for the response from Wayne Eagleson.
My request stemmed from a collection of events that cumulatively suggest that I may have been/be a target of Jason Ede and/or of "Cactus Kate" and/or Cameron Slater ("WhaleOil").
Any communications that may exist in relation to commercial interference in my career and/or influence being exercised over other facets of my life would have been authored between October 2011 and the present date.
It may well have been in the form of "personal" emails and/or social media conversations rather than work emails, though it is possible "personal" email addresses in question may have been accessed via Parliament computers or networks.
On the surface there appears to be a familial relationship between Jason Ede and my pre-election employer that I was not aware of until recently.
The objective may have been both to control & unduly impact upon my personal life and career as well as potentially for profit motives as well.
I would appreciate your investigating whether any communications sent from Parliament networks during the aforementioned time period corroborate this, and ask you to suggest any other avenues by which the information might be obtained if not through your office.
(It would be ideal if you could reply in HTML format rather than in downloadable .pdf. Thank you)
Yours sincerely,
Suzette Dawson

Dear Sarah Boyle,
I would like to make an additional enquiry regarding whether private companies/individual employees have been provided with access to the PRISM program via contractual arrangement or otherwise
I have experienced "piggy-backing" of my logins to PRISM-partner programs (specifically Gmail, Twitter and YouTube) post-election, in real-time by ostensibly fake accounts sending threatening messages.
I have reason to believe the persons sending those messages are employed by a telco/s in the private sector.
Could you please confirm whether access to Intelligence software applications of that nature have been extended to/contracted to or outsourced to an entity/entities of the corporate sector, and whether any such arrangement came into force post September 20, 2014
Thank you
Yours sincerely,
Suzette Dawson
From: Suzette Dawson
Dear Sarah Boyle,
I appear to have experienced a "man-in-the-middle attack" which included conversation about there being RFID tracking chips used on/in the persons of activists, non-consensually, in New Zealand.
(Of a similar variety to that used by the Councils to track dogs)
Can you please ask the Minister whether there is any information to indicate that this is in fact a technology being employed by the Government when monitoring activists/journalists/persons of interest?
Yours sincerely,
Suzette Dawson

Like Alex Harris above, I would highly suggest a Privacy equest to relevant departments. This way, you can obtain information relating to you personally. The OIA only relates to information not related to specific persons. More info can be found here;

Things to do with this request
- Add an annotation (to help the requester or others)
- Download a zip file of all correspondence

I think you need to be more specific in your request. For a start, a request to DPMC will only get information held by DPMC, and will only be transferred to another Minister if DPMC believes they are more likely to hold relevant information.
You'd be better off making a request under the Privacy Act to those past employers or potential employers. While there is an exemption for "evaluative material" (which covers job references), you should be able to get the names of people contacted - or who contacted them - to see if they sought outside views. You can then follow this up with Privacy Act requests to specific agencies named to see what information is held.
