Policy to identify people at increased risk of false emergency raids
James Sullivan made this Official Information request to New Zealand Police
The request was successful.
From: James Sullivan
Dear New Zealand Police,
There is a known problem globally, and specifically the US, of malicious actors making false emergency calls to trigger armed police responses on targets. This is commonly known as 'swatting' https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2022...
I would like to know if NZ Police has any policy or process where individuals can identify themselves at increased risk of such crimes.
Yours faithfully,
James Sullivan
