Why was my OIA request late
John Smith made this Official Information request to New Zealand Police
This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for John Smith to read a recent response and update the status.
From: John Smith
Dear New Zealand Police,
On 13 July 2022 I made a OIA request for information.
The file number isR-01-22-21705
I did not receive the information by the due date and had to send in a reminder.
I finally received the information about 8 days late despite the fact the police had already located the information for me on 1 August 2022
It appears that the staff have failed to comply with the OI Act and police general instructions etc.
Yours faithfully,
John Smith

You have been provided with Police’s response to your request, received by
Police on 25 July, not 13 July as stated incorrectly in our response. You
were provided with our response on 29 August, four working days after the
due date. Please accept our apologies for the delay in providing you with
a response to your request.
You have the right to ask the Ombudsman to review Police’s decision if you
are not satisfied with the decision. Information about how to make a
complaint is available at: [1]www.ombudsman.parliament.nz.
