1) What health checks do Ukrainians entering New Zealand under this policy
undergo before entering the country?
2) Specifically, given Ukraine has a high number of Tuberculosis cases
than other countries in the world, what specific tests do Ukranians take
for this disease before entering New Zealand?
3) How are these health checks tracked / monitored to ensure those
entering the country actually go ahead to undergo these tests, either
before they arrive or on arrival?

Dear Dan,

 

On behalf of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment I
acknowledge your email of the 11^th of December requesting under the
Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), the following:

 

“Under the 2022 Special Ukraine Policy:
1) What health checks do Ukrainians entering New Zealand under this policy
undergo before entering the country?

Your request has been transferred to the Ministry from the Ministry of
Health on the 14^th of December 2022 and is being processed in accordance
with the Official Information Act 1982. A response will be sent to you in
due course.

 

Please note that the days from 25 December 2021 to 15 January 2022
(inclusive) are defined as non- working days in the Act and are not
counted in the calculation of the maximum timeframe for our response to
your request. This will affect the time period for responding to your
request.
