Disorder definition
James made this Official Information request to New Zealand Police
The request was successful.
From: James
Dear New Zealand Police,
Can you please provide for the full definition of a
“Disorder incident” as defined, used and accepted by NZ police.
This should obviously include what type of incidents/crime/events this phrase covers.
Thank you.
Yours faithfully,
James

From: James
Dear Ministerial Services,
Hi Sophie,
As quoted by media and the NZ Police - there are dozens and dozens of examples where the term disorder incident has been used to cover everything from an extremely minor disturbance to extremely serious assaults, even deaths. Therefore is there an offical ‘disorder definition’ that is used by Police as the term disorder is generally associated with a minor disturbance or disruption.
Is there an offical NZ Police explanation/reason why a catch all label like disorder incident is applied when there is such a significant variation in incidents and seriousness?
