I trust this letter finds you well. I am reaching out under the Official
Information Act 1982 to seek clarification on the New Zealand Defence
Force's (NZDF) policies and procedures regarding the consideration of
Freemasons New Zealand membership in the recruiting and promotion
processes for NZDF personnel.

 

Specifically, I would like to gather information on the following points:

 

1. Does the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) consider membership in
Freemasons New Zealand during the recruiting and promotion processes for
NZDF personnel?

 

2. If Freemasons New Zealand membership is taken into account in the
recruiting and promotion processes, what impact does such membership have
on the assessment of an individual's suitability for recruitment or
promotion within the NZDF?

 

As a resident of New Zealand, I believe that understanding the criteria
applied in the recruiting and promotion processes is vital for public
awareness. I recognize the sensitivity of certain details and appreciate
the need for confidentiality in such matters.

 

I kindly request that you provide the requested information within the
statutory timeframe of 20 working days, as stipulated by the Official
Information Act. If, for any reason, it is not possible to fulfill this
request within the specified timeframe, I would appreciate an explanation
