New Zealand Law Review Prize
CM made this Official Information request to University of Auckland
The request was refused by University of Auckland.
From: CM
Dear University of Auckland,
Please provide the following information for the period 2020–2022:
a) The mean weighted average (used to determine eligibility for the New Zealand Law Review Prize) of recipients of the New Zealand Law Review Prize in the year range.
b) The lowest weighted average (used to determine eligibility for the New Zealand Law Review Prize) of the New Zealand Law Review Prize in the year range.
c) The highest weighted average (used to determine eligibility for the New Zealand Law Review Prize) of the New Zealand Law Review Prize in the year range.
I note that the University holds such data based on F Fitzgerald's request of March 01, 2022. Such a mean and range would not risk disclosing sensitive data of individual recipients due to the number of years for which information has been requested.
Yours faithfully,
CM

Dear requester,
I refer to your request of 6 December 2023. The University’s response
follows.
The University does hold the weighted average for each New Zealand Law
Review Prize recipient in each year, but not the requested statistics for
a custom year range, and the OIA does not require us to create this
information in response to your request. Your request is refused under
section 18(g) of the OIA. Although we have on a previous occasion decided
to create this kind of information in response to a request – the F
Fitzgerald request referred to in your request below - this does not set a
precedent requiring the University to create information for future
requests.
You have the right to make a complaint to an Ombudsman if you are
dissatisfied with this response.
Yours sincerely,
Landon Watt
