Medical Certificates (ACC18)
Karl Bloxham made this Official Information request to Accident Compensation Corporation
This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Karl Bloxham to read recent responses and update the status.
From: Karl Bloxham
Dear Accident Compensation Corporation,
I request information in relation to ACC’s Treatment Providers Handbook in particular “Medical certificates (ACC18)” under this section is a subsection “Discussing confidentialities” which states “If you’d like to talk to us about matters that you’re not comfortable writing onto a client’s ACC18, please tick the option I would like to discuss this with the clients case manager.
-Please advise, if the client request a copy of the information held by ACC about them, will ACC release the details of the conversation between the medical practitioner or will it be with held as its confidential?
Also, in the Cole’s Medical Practice in New Zealand 2021, it states “Confidentially can only be broken in extreme cases of imminent harm to patient or others. It is the doctor’s responsibility always, and through the systems that they work within, to maintain confidentially and privacy of all patient information”
- Please advise on what basis does ACC invite a medical practitioner to break the confidentially and privacy of a patient?
Yours faithfully,
Karl Bloxham
