Please provide any and all information known or held by your department in any and all formats, including, but not limited to, documents, draft documents, reports, memos, letters, notes, electronic communications, transcripts, visual presentations, photography, and video/audio recordings containing information pertaining to geo-engineering, weather modification and Solar Radiation Management/Mitigation (SRM) with particular emphasis on cloud seeding, marine cloud brightening/engineering/seeding and Stratospheric Aerosol Injection (SAI).
Additionally, please provide any and all information known or held by your department in any and all formats, including, but not limited to, documents, draft documents, reports, memos, letters, notes, electronic communications, transcripts, visual presentations, photography, and video/audio recordings containing information pertaining to barium, nano aluminium-coated fibreglass (known as chaff), radioactive thorium, cadmium, chromium, copper sulphate, nickel, strontium, graphene, desiccated blood, mould spores, yellow fungal mycotoxins, ethylene dibromide and polymer fibres with relation to their uses, or potential uses, in geo-engineering, weather modification, Solar Radiation Management/Mitigation, cloud seeding and Stratospheric Aerosol Injection.
And Finally, please provide any and all information known or held by your department in any and all formats, including, but not limited to, documents, draft documents, reports, memos, letters, notes, electronic communications, transcripts, visual presentations, photography, and video/audio recordings containing information pertaining to any mention of smart particles, nano machines, nano aerosols, nano-particulates or nano-sized aluminium particles with relationship, if any, to geo-engineering, weather modification, Solar Radiation Management/Mitigation, cloud seeding and Stratospheric Aerosol Injection.

Thank you for your OIA request. We respond as follows.
The extensive nature of your questions, especially the number of terms you have listed, means a search would return more data than is in our capacity to process in a timely manner. Geoengineering is very broad term, and we request that you refine your search.
In relation specifically to geoengineering we have two documents:
1. Cliff Law presentation in 2008 for the Royal Society of New Zealand titled "Geoengineering - Ocean Schemes"

These documents were prepared and presented by NIWA staff to give an overall view about geoengineering. They are not a reflection of work done by NIWA but are initial thoughts on what may be possible.

Thank you for your response. I specifically request all information your department has on Cloud Seeding, Stratospheric Aerosol Injection, Solar Radiation Management and Cloud Brightening. On advice, perhaps forward my request to Dr Andrew Tait, Chief Scientist, NIWA.
I understand that this may amount to a new request and therefore this provides for the maximum statutory timeframe for a response.

I thought your request was already quite specific, but possibly might be administratively burdensome if directed to the entire organisation. If the request does entail sifting through so much data for that reason, perhaps ask that NIWA specifically point the request towards Dr Andrew Tait, Chief Scientist - Climate, Atmosphere and Hazards. He would certainly have the understanding of where to pull out this information and supply it under the act. With the recently exposed debacle about NIWA deliberately fudging historic weather data they could partially redeem themselves by showing some transparency in this.
