I am writing to submit an Official Information Act (OIA) request for all internal communications related to the processing of my previous OIA request, reference number OIA-2024-5065, submitted on June 20, 2024. I am seeking documents and communications generated between June 20, 2024, and August 17, 2024, inclusive.

Request Details:

1. Internal Communications:
- All emails, memos, notes, and other internal communications between NZDF staff, officers, or contractors regarding the processing, discussion, or decision-making related to OIA-2024-5065.

2. Document Handling:
- Any internal documents, guidelines, or instructions provided to NZDF staff related to how OIA-2024-5065 was to be processed, including any documents that detail reasons for withholding or releasing information.

3. Consultation and Decision Records:
- Records of any consultations with other government departments, agencies, or external entities regarding the handling of OIA-2024-5065.
- Records of any meetings or discussions specifically focused on OIA-2024-5065, including minutes, summaries, or action points.

4. Final Decision and Review:

Good afternoon N.S. Hudson

 

I refer to your email of 17 August for information about your previous
request for information. The Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) requires
that a decision on your request be provided no later than 20 working days
after the day your request was received. Unfortunately, it will not be
possible to meet that time limit and this email is to notify you of an
extension of the time to make a decision, to 11 October 2024.

 

This extension is necessary because consultations with our international
partners necessary to make a decision on your request are such that a
proper response cannot reasonably be made within the original time limit.

 

You retain the right, under section 28(3) of the OIA, to ask an Ombudsman
to review my decision to extend your request.
