As per the below, we received the transfer of your OIA request asking:
1. What was the revenue made from ticket sales?
2. How many passengers rode the train (If possible, please break down by
each stop)
3. What is the cost of operating the capital connection?
4. For any shortfall not made from ticket sales, where does additional
funding come from?
Please find our response below.
Question 1. The revenue made from ticket sales was approx. $1,546,00.00.
Question 2. A total of 108,792 passengers rode the train. – please find
the attached spreadsheet for a detailed breakdown of stops etc.
Question 3. The cost of operating the capital connection was approx..
$4,548,000.00.
Question 4. Any shortfall not made from ticket sales, additional funding
comes from the National Land Transport Fund minus a contribution of
$220,000 from Greater Wellington Regional Council and Horizons Regional
Council.
This information has been released under the OIA. As such you have the
right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this
