Dear University of Auckland,
I am writing to request data on the rank scores of students applying through the NCEA and CIE pathways (as taken in New Zealand) for Part 1 Engineering, starting in Semester 1, 2024. Specifically, I would like to request the lower quartile, mean, median, and upper quartile of these rank scores for successful applicants who applied through each pathway.

Dear Ash,
I refer to your request of 29 August 2024. As consultations necessary to make a decision on your request are such that a response cannot reasonably be given within the original time limit, the University has extended the time limit for your request under section 15A(1)(b) of the OIA. The new maximum time limit for the University’s response is 24 October 2024; we will respond to your request as soon as reasonably practicable. You have the right to make a complaint to an Ombudsman if you are dissatisfied with this extension.

follows. I apologize for the delay.
“I am writing to request data on the rank scores of students applying
through the NCEA and CIE pathways (as taken in New Zealand) for Part 1
Engineering, starting in Semester 1, 2024. Specifically, I would like to
request the lower quartile, mean, median, and upper quartile of these rank
scores for successful applicants who applied through each pathway.”
The statistics requested for the Part I Engineering programme are not held
by the University. The Official Information Act (OIA) does not require
agencies to create statistics or other information in response to
requests. Your request is refused under section 18(g) of the OIA. You have
the right to make a complaint to an Ombudsman if you are dissatisfied with
this response.
