sustainability plans.
2. How does ICLEI's Five Pathways approach influence Hamilton's
sustainability strategies?
3. Does Hamilton City Council integrate the zero emission pathway into its

7. Have any staff or councillors joined ICLEI or consult with ICLEI
Oceania?
8. Has Hamilton City Council ever paid any subscriptions or membership to
ICLEI Oceania?
Our response:
1. What role does ICLEI play in shaping Hamilton city council's
sustainability plans.
Hamilton City Council’s approach to sustainability is developed internally
by staff. ICLEI plays no role in shaping Council’s current sustainability
plans.
2. How does ICLEI's Five Pathways approach influence Hamilton's
sustainability strategies?
The ICLEI five pathways have not specifically influenced Hamilton’s
sustainability strategies. Having reviewed the five pathways following
receipt of this request there is some consistency with the approach
Council takes in Our Climate Future: Te Pae Tawhiti o Kirikiriroa.
However, they did not inform the development of Council’s strategy.
3. Does Hamilton City Council integrate the zero emission pathway into
its sustainability strategies primarily through the Community Energy
and Emissions Plan (CEEP) through ICLEI Oceania?
No, as we are not a member of ICLEI currently.
4. How many staff have been trained through ICLEI Oceania programmers?
We are not aware of any staff having been trained by ICLEI Oceania
programmers whilst at Hamilton City Council.
5. Have Hamilton city council adopted ICLEI Oceania plans or programme
and if so when?
We are not a member of ICLEI Oceania therefore have not adopted any
current plans or programmes.
6. Former mayor Margaret Evans was on the ICLEI board and Hamilton city
council adopted ICLEI policy. Is this still policy in council under
the sustainable goals policy?
We do not have a sustainable goals policy at Council. All of our policies
are available on the website -
[1]https://hamilton.govt.nz/your-council/po...
7. Have any staff or councillors joined ICLEI or consult with ICLEI
Oceania?
Not that we are aware of in recent years, noting that there was
involvement with ICLEI by Council in the 90s and early 2000s.
8. Has Hamilton City Council ever paid any subscriptions or membership to
ICLEI Oceania?
As your question 6 notes, Hamilton City Council did have some involvement
with ICLEI in the 90s and early 2000s but is not a current member or
subscriber to ICLEI Oceania.
