Mental Health Target Data
David Farrar made this Official Information request to Health New Zealand
This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for David Farrar to read a recent response and update the status.
From: David Farrar
Dear Health New Zealand,
Five targets for the mental health system have been published at https://www.health.govt.nz/statistics-re...
I am seeking historical data relating to these five targets, preferably going back at least the last ten years. So specifically:
1) What % of of people accessed specialist mental health and addiction services within three weeks
2) What % of people accessing primary mental health and addiction services
through the Access and Choice programme were seen within one week
3) What % of mental health and addiction-related emergency department
presentations were admitted, discharged, or transferred from an emergency department within six hours
4) How many mental health and addiction professionals were trained each year
5) The % of mental health and addiction investment allocated/spent on prevention and early intervention
Yours faithfully,
DPF

Tçnâ koe David,
I refer to your official information request set out in your email below.
Can you please define what do you mean by “MH&A professionals”. Please
note that we are unable to provide total number of how many MH&A
professionals are trained each year however we may hold data for how many
MH&A professionals are employed by Health NZ, or if they are a regulated
profession who hold an Annual Practising Certificate such as Doctors,
Nurses, and Psychologists. Do you agree on receiving that information
instead?
It appears likely that your original request will need to be clarified or
amended to enable us to respond. Please note, any clarification or
amendment of a request is considered to be a new request for the purpose
of calculating the maximum statutory timeframe for response—see section
15(1AA) of the Official Information Act.

Dear Shane Sharma,
Thanks for your response.
The definition I would use is the definition used by the Government at https://www.health.govt.nz/statistics-re... and https://www.health.govt.nz/system/files/...
I presume that as they are a government target they will be measured going forward. If they have not been measured in the past, then the numbers employed be Health NZ going backwards would be fine.
Yours sincerely,
David Farrar
