Dear Department of Internal Affairs,
I wish to know the following:
On 15 June 2023, a new self-identification process replaced the Family Court process. Under the new process, applications for changes of registered sex marker on a birth certificate are sent to Births, Deaths, and Marriages.

In relation to the above, please provide the following information:

1. The total number of applications submitted to change a registered sex since 15 June 2023.
2. The number of applications refused.
3. The number of applications approved.
4. For the approved applications, a tabulated summary of the changes made from any gender to another gender - all tabulated and categorised please - for example all changes from M to F, from F to Non-Binary, and all other potential combination of changes.
