Decision process to upgrade bus stop 1188
Andrew Watkins made this Official Information request to Auckland Transport
Currently waiting for a response from Auckland Transport, they must respond promptly and normally no later than (details and exceptions).
From: Andrew Watkins
Dear Auckland Transport,
Following minimal consultation in 2022 and our expressed objection to any change a decision was taken and implemented in 2024 to significantly upgrade the bus stop 1188 at 28 Junction Road, Waiheke Island.
The upgrade is not in keeping with the design guidelines for the island, it does not use locally appropriate materials, is excessively large, has a high kerb step, and does not follow the original proposal for relocation further along the road. No other bus stop on the island has been developed to such an extent even though the passenger traffic is < 10 people a day.
Please provide all documentation, project plans, emails etc. about who, how and when the decision was made to carry out the changes. In particular provide evidence for the decision taken to not inform local householders of the decision to implement the upgrade and the planned design until notice of roadworks was given a week before they started allowing no objection to be lodged or action taken.
Yours faithfully,
Andrew Watkins

Dear AT Official Information (AT),
Regarding the timeframes. This should run from immediately prior to the decision to consult on the change the bus stop in 2022 to the completion of the changes in 2024.
However you should also include any overall policy documents affecting the process that may have been in place earlier.
Yours sincerely,
Andrew Watkins
