Thank you for your official information request dated 19 December 2024, regarding the public nomination process for the appointment of lay members of the Hight Court, as well as the appointment letter and biography of each appointee.

I have transferred your request to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE). The information to which your request relates is more closely connected with the functions of MBIE. In these circumstances, I am required by section 14 of the Official Information Act to transfer your request.

On behalf of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment I
acknowledge your request of 19 December 2024 sent to the Office of Hon
Judith Collins requesting under the Official Information Act 1982 (the
Act), the following:

 

‘May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform you
have call for public nominations e.g. govt.jobs website. Also, how many
applications you have received from the public and how many you have
received from other nominating agencies such as TPK or Ministry of women
etc for your role. May I also seek a copy of the ad went out to public and
the appointment letter sent to the appointee (not need to be this round,
any previous one as an example would be ok), feel free to redact any
personal information.

 

Further, may I kindly understand the appointment process and selection
process of Lay Members of the High Court. Please kindly supply bio of each
appointed member if you have one on file.’

 

Your request has been transferred to the Ministry of Business, Innovation
and Employment from the Office of Hon Judith Collins on 13 January 2025
and is being processed in accordance with the Official Information Act
1982. A response will be sent to you in due course.
