Stormwater overflow calculations, St Mary St

Thorndon Residents' Association made this Official Information request to Wellington City Council

This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Thorndon Residents' Association to read recent responses and update the status.

From: Thorndon Residents' Association

Dear Wellington City Council,

Context of this information request:
A platform for pedestrians, and associated raised kerb islands, were recently installed at the bottom of St Mary St, at its intersection with Tinakori Rd, Thorndon. These elevated constructions are situated beside a stormwater sump (Asset ID: WCC_SW037546). The newly constructed features interrupt stormwater overflows.

In order to assure conformance to applicable standards, calculations would have established how the modified stormwater overflows (in particular) would be expected to perform against predicted climate change rainfall increases, both with the as-built environment as well as with the catchment fully developed to the level of intensification allowed by the operative District Plan.

Information requested:
1) Please provide a copy of ALL the calculations, that informed the designer, and WCC's decisions, on the stormwater considerations for this modification of the kerb and channel.

2) Please ensure the inclusion of any calculations that demonstrate how the results compare with the City Corporation's specific Code and clauses for stormwater management.

3) Please provide any information that indicate these calculations were completed to ensure protection of adjacent property from inundation or damage.

4) Please provide copies of any correspondence, notes, documents, or records of ANY kind that relate to stormwater concerns, or issues, with this intervention at the bottom of St Mary St.

5) What was the grand total cost of these works at the bottom of St Mary St? i.e. from original concept to final engineering sign-off of the installed structure (including all contractor and WCC time and materials, etc).

Yours faithfully,

Thorndon Residents' Association
