I am writing to acknowledge receipt of your request for information about
How often does Oranga Tamariki acknowlege care and protection concerns in
the Family Court, but object to being involved purely due to financial
reasons? under the Official Information Act 1982.

 

We will endeavour to respond to you as soon as possible, and in any case,
no later than 13^th Feburary 2025, being 20 working days from our receipt
of your request on 7^th January 2025, as provided for under the Act.

 

If we are unable to respond to your request within those 20 working days,
we will notify you of an extension to that timeframe.

Dear Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children,

 

I am writing to request information in regards to the 2024 calendar year,
and in particular to ask how many times the family court has brought
Oranga Tamariki into existing proceedings, how many of those Oranga
Tamariki has acknowledged care and protection concerns, and how many of
those cases Oranga Tamariki has objected to further involvement purely for
financial reasons.
