Reporting of Sexual Assault in the NZDF
Tiana Scott made this Official Information request to New Zealand Defence Force
The request was successful.
From: Tiana Scott
Dear New Zealand Defence Force,
Could you please provide me with information on the reporting of sexual assaults? I was hoping for the statistics on the number of reported assaults (sexual assault complaints and sexual harassment complaints) from June 30th 2015 to currently with a breakdown of whether it was Army, Navy or Air Force.
Additionally, any information regarding the process of making a sexual assault complaint, the process that someone has to go through to get a conviction and how the NZDF is involved in court proceedings would be great.
Finally, what are you currently doing to prevent sexual assault from occurring in the Defence Force? What are your prevention policies or how are you educating your personnel?
With regards to s12 of the OIA, I am an NZ citizen and in NZ.
Yours faithfully,
Tiana Scott
