The google transit file used for supplying bus information to Google Maps
Blake Bedford-Palmer made this Official Information request to Otago Regional Council
The request was successful.
From: Blake Bedford-Palmer
Dear Otago Regional Council,
Could you please provide the Google Transit format files provided to Google Maps for the directions feature.
I would also like it if you uploaded this to your website so it can be used by app developers etc, just like Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch have done.
Not having it there prohibits innovation.
Open data is very important.
Yours faithfully,
Blake Bedford-Palmer

Dear Peter Kelliher,
This is great news! If all goes well I will be submitting the data to Moovit, It takes what's great about Google Maps but adds more, including notifying the passenger when they're almost at their stop.
Look forward to it.
Yours sincerely,
Blake Bedford-Palmer
