I would like to request time series data on number of hospital beds each
DHB has from June 2006 until July 2016.
I would also like to request if this data can be provided in quarterly
counts.

later than 2 November 2016 as required under the Official Information Act
1982.

Please note that a working day is defined in the Act as ‘any day of the
week other than a Saturday, Sunday, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Anzac Day,
Labour Day, the Sovereigns birthday, Waitangi Day and a day in the period
commencing 25 December in any year and ending 15 January in the following
year.

If a large amount of information has been requested or if the Ministry
needs to consult in order to make a decision, we may need to extend this
date (this is provided for in section 15A of the Act).  We will advise you
if such an extension is necessary.

Dear Mr Andrews,

Thank you for your query regarding DHB bed numbers.

Since 2013/14 The Ministry of Health has been requesting DHBs to submit an
asset stocktake which includes the number of beds at each DHB.

The data is only collected annually and intended to be best estimate only
particularly as bed numbers can change/be repurposed very easily.

Dear Mr. Andrews,

Yes, that is correct. Ministry of Health have only been collecting annual
figures on bed counts since 2013.

Prior to 2013 there have been no national collection of bed numbers.
