Dear WorkSafe New Zealand,

I am requesting all information relating to keeping children safe from staff members of NZ schools in accordance with the Official Information Act 1982, particularly I am looking for:

1. Does WorkSafe have jurisdiction over NZ Schools from a H&S context? I am assuming for the purpose of this request that WorkSafe does have this responsibility.

2. Assuming it has jurisdiction, has WorkSafe investigated any schools for abuse by staff members against children?
2.a. If so, please provide the most expeditous details available about these incidences so that I can refine my request further.
2.b If not, given media releases by MOE and the media in recent months, why has WorkSafe not conducted any investigations and are there intentions to do so?

While the OIA requires the broadest interpretation, in the event that my request is too broad, please use "Sara Cohen School" as the school in question. Otherwise, please consider all schools generally.
