Could you please provide the exact figure of last 3 years for the
following:

1. Total Number of New Zealand medical graduates who were unable to find a
PGY1 position in 2016 intake.

2. Total number of designated PGY1 positions across all DHB's where,
following a withdrawal or decline by ACE matched candidates, PGY2 or
higher candidates were appointed.

3. Out of these appointments :-
       A.- Breakdown of appointments quarter wise.
       B.- How many were existing employee and required further PGY1
allocation to meet  MCNZ general registration requirements.
       C.- How many of these appointees satisfied MCNZ registration
requirements through comparable health care system or competent authority
pathways.

later than 13 February 2017 as required under the Official Information Act
1982.

Please note that a working day is defined in the Act as ‘any day of the
week other than a Saturday, Sunday, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Anzac Day,
Labour Day, the Sovereigns birthday, Waitangi Day and a day in the period
commencing 25 December in any year and ending 15 January in the following
year.

If a large amount of information has been requested or if the Ministry
needs to consult in order to make a decision, we may need to extend this

As per the partial transfer of your OIA request received 25^th January
from the Ministry of Health (attached), please see the response from DHB
Shared Services to question one of the request as follows.

 

1.       Total number of New Zealand medical graduates who were unable to
find a PGY1 position in 2016 intake.

 

Following the ACE  match process  for the November 2016 intake, nine NZ
funded medical students (category 1) remained unmatched. There were also
eighteen New Zealand graduates (non- resident/citizen) who were unmatched.

 

All unmatched applicants go into a talent pool and are eligible for
vacancies as they arise throughout the year.

 

You have the right to seek a review of this response by way of complaint
to the Ombudsman. More information is available on the Ombudsman website.

 

If you have any questions please let me know, otherwise it would be
appreciated if you could confirm by return email receipt of our response
for our records.
