As per the partial transfer of your OIA request received 25^th January
from the Ministry of Health (attached), please see the response from DHB
Shared Services to question one of the request as follows.
1. Total number of New Zealand medical graduates who were unable to
find a PGY1 position in 2016 intake.
Following the ACE match process for the November 2016 intake, nine NZ
funded medical students (category 1) remained unmatched. There were also
eighteen New Zealand graduates (non- resident/citizen) who were unmatched.
All unmatched applicants go into a talent pool and are eligible for
vacancies as they arise throughout the year.
You have the right to seek a review of this response by way of complaint
to the Ombudsman. More information is available on the Ombudsman website.
If you have any questions please let me know, otherwise it would be
appreciated if you could confirm by return email receipt of our response
for our records.
