New Zealand Police
Hi Ma
I am writing in response to your request for information relating to crime
statistics by district for the last 10 years, made under the Official
Information Act 1982 (OIA).
The number of victimisations since July 2014 by Police District, offence,
month, and outcome of investigation at 7, 30, 90 and 180 days of
investigation, are publically available at [1]policedata.nz .
Monthly estimates for population by Police District from June 2014 onwards
are available here:
[2]http://www.stats.govt.nz/tools_and_servi...
Police replaced the Official Statistics on ‘recorded offences’ with a new
statistical series based on ‘crime victimisations’ in 2014. These
statistics are not comparable. More information about the change is
available here:
[3]http://www.police.govt.nz/about-us/publi...
Annual reports containing the number of recorded offences, number of
recorded offences per 10,000 population, and resolved offences by Police
District and offence type are available on the New Zealand Police website.
The report for the 2014 fiscal year ending 30 June is available here:
[4]http://www.police.govt.nz/about-us/publi...
. Links to previous reports dating back to 2000 are also available from
this page.
The number of recorded and resolved offences by Police District and
offence are also available from the Statistics New Zealand website here:

Although for the reasons above none of the information you have sought has
been provided with this letter, I trust my response is still helpful in
guiding you to online holdings for such data. If you have any questions
please let me know.
Also, you have the right under section 28(3) of the OIA to seek a review
of my handling of your request by the Office of the Ombudsmen.
Regards,
Dr Gavin Knight
